Understanding Electrolysis: The Process

Electrolysis involves the precise insertion of a fine probe into the hair follicle, followed by the delivery of an electrical current. This current leads to the destruction of the follicle, allowing for the effortless removal of the hair.  There are two primary electrical currents utilised in Electrolysis: Thermolysis and Galvanic.  While Thermolysis employs heat buildup to destroy follicle tissue, Galvanic current triggers a chemical reaction using tissue moisture and salt, resulting in profound follicle destruction. The blend of both currents, known as the Blend modality, intensifies the destruction process. Post-treatment, clients may experience temporary redness, but there are no permanent side effects.

COURSE OUTCOME

On completion of ALL Assessment tasks to a competent standard you will receive a -

These units equip you with the skills and knowledge required to deliver effective hair removal treatments while ensuring stringent infection control measures. Our face-to-face classroom training, complemented by online theory sessions via MOODLE, offers a comprehensive learning experience. You'll be guided by highly qualified beauty therapists with years of industry experience, ensuring you receive top-notch training.

Dermaskin Training will assist you in every way they can to ensure you perform to the best of your ability and successfully complete your chosen training course.

Dermaskin Training, is however, unable to guarantee you will be issued with a certificate of completion nor obtain a particular employment outcome.

COURSE DURATION

• 4 x 5 hours sessions face to face, via zoom, in clinic or classroom setting

Session 1 - Understanding Electrolysis - Knowledge

• Histology of hair, types and growth patterns
• Anatomy of hair and skin
• Phases of hair growth
• Electrolysis - thermolysis, blend, galvanic
• Contra-indications to the treatment
• Adverse reactions etc

Session 2 - Electrolysis Techniques - Practical

• Designing the treatment
• Consultation process
• Training on the TGA approved Electrolysis device according to manufacturer guidelines
• Setting up the workspace in line with current local, state and national regulations
• Probe variety and selection
• Insertion techniques, angles, duration etc
• Delivering and performing a successful Electrolysis Treatment using Thermolysis, Blend and Galvanic currents
• Aftercare advice, follow up and recommendations
• Cleaning the work area in a safe, effective and timely manner

Session 3 - Practical Assessment  - Demonstrating Competency

• Performing a successful Electrolysis Treatment on 2 Models
• Choice of modality Thermolysis, Blend, Galvanic - or all 3
• Address and meet all practical criteria as outlined in the assessment booklet
• Use language demonstrating knowledge of all aspects of effective hair removal to client and thorough understanding of hair patterns, growth etc to deliver informed consultation, treatment plan and follow up to paying client

Session 4 - Practical Assessments - Demonstrating Competency

• This session must be arranged with Assessor - face to face, in clinic, via zoom etc when sufficient practice of skills will deem competent outcome
• Practical Electrolysis Treatment Assessments on Models 3, 4 & 5
• Follow up Electrolysis Treatment Assessments on Models 1 & 2 

Time must also be allocated for home study to review notes and complete theory knowledge and practical assessment booklet.
