This unit describes the performance outcome, skills and knowledge required to plan and safely use electric currents to treat dilated capillaries.

It requires the ability to establish priorities with clients, apply knowledge of electric currents to design and provide treatments to reduce the appearance of dilated capillary blood vessels on the face and upper chest. The diathermy treatment can be an individual service or form part of a series of services.

This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty salons. In this environment they exercise judgement in selecting and providing an appropriate treatment; demonstrate maturity and confidentiality in their client interactions; and apply knowledge of facial treatments.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

PRE-REQUISITE UNITS

SHBBINFOO2 – Maintain infection control standards

SHBBSSC001 – Incorporate knowledge of skin structure and functions into beauty therapy

SHBBSSC002 – Incorporate knowledge of body structures and functions into beauty therapy

WHO SHOULD COMPLETE THE COURSE

Skin therapists with knowledge of skin biology and skill in providing skin therapies. They provide treatments in skin or beauty therapy clinics according to legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures

COURSE OUTCOME

On completion of ALL assessment tasks to a competent standard you will receive a -

  • Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment - SHBBSKS007 - Provide Diathermy Treatments

Dermaskin Training will assist you in every way they can to ensure you perform to the best of your ability and successfully complete your chosen training course.  Dermaskin Training is however, unable to guarantee you will be issued with a certificate of completion nor obtain a particular employment outcome.

COURSE DURATION

Course is expected to be completed within 6 weeks maximum, but can be adjusted according to individual needs.
  • One full day practical tuition
  • Theory assessment, home study and practice on family and friends
  • Please note all assessments must be completed within 3 months
  • Please note courses are non-refundable after course commencement however we are happy to move you to another practical tuition date if you are unable to attend due to sickness or circumstances
  • Theory own pace
  • Practical 6hr face to face in clinic or via live class
